While You’re Waiting
•
On your mark.
Get set.
Ready…
There are moments in life when it feels like nothing significant is happening. It seems as if you are the hamster on the wheel. You are using a lot of energy, but you aren’t getting anywhere. It is during these lulls that many people get depressed; some give up, and others just seem to give out. Doubt finds its way into your heart and mind, and you begin to think that maybe there is something wrong with me, or maybe, I’m not supposed to succeed. Some of us will begin to believe that what we thought was our purpose was really just an unattainable dream. And we quit. We decide that we are too old, or too young, or too poor, or too uneducated, or too (you fill in the blank). In spite of all that we believed before, we determine that it is never going to happen. Have you considered that this lull – this downtime – was intended?
Perhaps, the many things that are required for your purpose to be fulfilled are being prepared and put into place, so that at just the right moment, you can begin to walk and operate in the fullness of your purpose. But, hold on! There’s a problem. All of the other pieces are in place, but you’re not ready. What if everything is being delayed because what you thought was a lull was really supposed to be training? You were supposed to be exercising your faith, working some things out with regards to your finances, lifting burdens off of others, and pulling your purpose closer to you by pushing away all of those things that have been keeping you from being the best you (i.e. negative thinking, poor self-esteem, bad attitude, un-forgiveness, etc.).
Yes, you may be waiting, but you should not be at a standstill. Some confuse doing nothing with “waiting.” Waiting is active. It means that your time is coming; something else is on the way. You’ve got to be ready! So, while you’re waiting, position yourself. Position yourself…mentally, spiritually, physically, emotionally, and intellectually. Waiting means that you’re actively preparing. You know…it’s like David. He was waiting in the field (protecting the sheep by slaying lions and bears) for a long time before his Goliath moment came. But, when his time came, he was ready. Had he not been prepared, he could not have taken advantage of the opportunity, or else, the opportunity would have killed him.
We all have periods of transition. However, the ones who get to their next are the ones who take advantage of their now. Don’t just sit there feeling sorry for yourself because that is not going to get you closer to your dream or your purpose. Use this time wisely! Take advantage of the training opportunity. If you’re waiting for a promotion at work, take on additional responsibilities in your current position. If you’re waiting for additional income, learn how to manage finances now. If you’re waiting to start your own business, learn how to manage, market, and sale now. You get the point. Do something! Actively wait.
Don’t let this time pass you by. There is plenty to do in preparation for your next _______. And before you know it, you’ll hear…
Go!
